As President and CEO of Alenia North America Inc, Giuseppe Giordo is responsible for the company’s military and commercial operations in the entirety of North America, including industrial investments and collaborations.
Mr. Giordo directs production, distribution, and marketing activities in accordance with Alenia’s operating policies, principles, and procedures. Mr. Giordo confers with customer representatives to evaluate marketing opportunities and to promote improved and expanded marketing campaigns. Mr. Giordo analyzes market conditions in order to better plan for future sales opportunities. He oversees sales, advertising, promotions, field services, personnel programs, and the preparation of accounting records. As well, he provides management with budget recommendations. Mr. Giordo also develops and administers policies and programs designed to enhance the company’s image and improve relations with customers, employees, shareholders and the general public. As CEO, Mr. Giordo has played a leading role in the negotiation of joint ventures with major U.S. defense companies for the C-27J Spartan program and spearheaded the sale of C-27J Spartans to Greece.
Mr. Giordo has been with Alenia since 1990. At the beginning of his career, he gained extensive experience in the management of international collaborative programs. He managed several major military undertakings, including the A-400M and the AV-8B Harrier II Plus programs.
Prior to becoming Alenia North America’s CEO, Mr. Giordo served as the Vice President of Marketing and North American Operations for Alenia Aeronautica S.p.A. Previous positions include posts serving as the head of Alenia Aeronautica’s International Marketing, as the Regional Director for Europe, Africa, and South America, and as the Sales Director for the Eurofighter Export Programs. From 2000 to 2003, Mr. Giordo served as the Director of International Marketing. In this position, Mr. Giordo oversaw the production and distribution of marketing campaigns in an effort to expand the company’s international presence. From 1998 to 1999, Mr. Giordo was employed by Alenia Aerospazio, Divisione Aeronautica, in the executive position of Director, International Market Development for Europe, Southern Africa and Brazil. Prior to that, he worked for that company as the Director of Trade Development, the Business Development Manager, the International and Research Program Commercial Manager, and the Business Manager for the AV-8B Program.
Mr. Giordo was born in Treviso, Italy in 1965. As the son of an Air Force Fighter pilot, he spent much of his childhood living on Italian Air Force bases. It was here that he developed his lifelong passion for military aircraft. After earning a degree in economics and then a law degree from La Sapienza University in Rome, he served for three years in the Italian Air Force and achieved the rank of Tenant Officer. Mr. Giordo is married and has two children.
